Last night’s dinner turned out so well that I decided to share the recipe with my readers!
Baked ziti is a new recipe for me, but was surprisingly easy. Even easier than lasagna. For me pretty much any kind of pasta is enjoyable, but especially it involves three cheese, spinach, and meat sauce. Check out my recipe below for all the delicious details. Total prep time took about 30 minutes, then about 25 to bake.
~ 12 oz. uncooked ziti
~ marinara (I used about a quarter of a jar)
~ 12 oz. ground beef
~ 5 oz. frozen spinach
~ salt and pepper to taste
~ 8 oz. skim ricotta
~ 2 cups shredded mozzerella cheese
~ grated Parmesan cheese
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9 x 13 inch casserole dish with oil spray. Cook pasta to until al dente. Drain and return to pot. Add olive oil and garlic salt to taste. Stir in marinara. In a pan cook ground beef and season with salt and pepper. In a bowl combine 1 1/2 cups of the mozzerella, the ricotta, and the spinach. Stir until creamy. Add cheese mixture and ground beef to the pasta, then spread evenly into casserole dish. Sprinkle remaining mozzerella over top, then place in the oven to bake for twenty to twenty five minutes, or until the edges should be golden brown. Remove from oven, sprinkle with grated Parmesan and serve! I paired mine with a sweet red wine for the perfect flavor combination.
