Body Image Breakdown

Beauty standards are on a constant rise towards perfection. Every century and decade have had their own trends in what is expected for someone to appear attractive. Now that technology and social media controls our everyday lives, it also is controlling our ideas of body image. As a teenaged girl, I obsessed over fashion magazines and celebrities. I longed for thinner arms and a smaller nose, at times putting unhealthy pressure on myself to change. Little did I know how unreal most of the photos are. As I was doing some research for this post, I learned that a lot of celebrities have a staff that is strictly in charge of making sure all of their pictures, whether in magazine articles, or for social media, are edited. The five videos below show just how harsh these beauty expectations are, and what they are doing to our confidence. I hope that these open your eyes to how beautiful every individual is, so called “flaws” included. Have a peaceful Sunday, and a wonderful week. XOXO

  1. I agree! It is so ridiculous how much the media affects our idea of beauty and body image. We all have to learn how to love ourselves for the people we are, and not to obsess over what is considered “perfect”. Great post. ♥

  2. True! The media puts waaaay too much pressure on vunerable minds to look/act/be a certain way! Why can’t we just be our real selves and not be judged for it. Argh! I also think photoshop has a lot to answer for! The reality just doesn’t match the expectation!
